A decade after his death The Moynihan Documentary Project, the first feature length documentary about his life, captures Daniel Patrick Moynihan, the man, the thinker, and the doer as never before. More than simply a traditional great man biography, the film portrays the spirit of Moynihan’s ideas as they evolved over the course of his remarkable and often tumultuous life in postwar America–both the triumphs and the controversies.

Social Ink created a new website and visual identity for The Daniel Patrick Moynihan Film Project, a documentary chronicling the life of the former United States senator and ambassador to the United Nations.

Work on the project included full-bleed hero images, a multimedia-equipped WordPress CMS embedding video, and slideshows of production stills and exclusive photos. The website is responsive and can be viewed across the screens of several phones, tablets, laptops, and monitors.

We are happy to have worked with the creators of this forthcoming documentary and to continue building websites for creatives!

Public Curricula

From our Portfolio
Public Curricula

Public Curricula is an advocacy group concerned with the intersections of social justice, technology and technology’s audience. From international trade agreements to neighborhood protests, technology is integral to everyone’s life. But how we use it should not be taken for granted. PC approached us about an issue dear to their members’ hearts: openness, privacy concerns and big tech companies.

With Public Curricula team, we devised a comparison tool that allowed the user to compare take-down requests from governments across the world, and how Google responded in the various countries in which it operates. Importing data via Google’s open database files, we created a simple, visually strong tool that utilized predictive typing, infographic comparison and other visual cues to quickly communicate the problem without overwhelming the user.

Mobile Responsive Design (RWD)

#StopSlut is a youth-led movement that grew from the response to SLUT: The Play; its mission is to transform rape culture through activism. Social Ink worked with The Feminist Press, a nonprofit literary publisher that advocates for freedom of expression and social justice, to promote #StopSlut.

Working alongside The Feminist Press we created a web platform that provides tour information and ticketing for SLUT: The Play, serves as a launch point for youth activism, and provides support resources for advocates and survivors. The CMS powered site is responsive across phones, tablets, and monitors of various shapes and sizes and will aid the growth of the #StopSlut movement.

We are thrilled to work with The Feminist Press, continuing our service to progressive nonprofit organizations.

Donald Katz is a journalist, author, and founder of Audible.com. His 1992 book, Home Fires, has been reissued this year.

We worked alongside Donald’s staff and media team to create a personal brand, identity and website. The site provides a writerly presence on the web, and a place to showcase the many facets of his work: as author & journalist, Audible.com founder, and promoter of the city of Newark, New Jersey, where Audible’s headquarters were moved in 2007.

Specialty work on the project included a two-pronged navigation system, embedded social media and video, and a flexible production environment responsive to the timelines involved with a major book release.

As part of our work designing and developing websites for creatives, including writers and new media professionals, it’s been great working with Donald and team. We encourage you to visit Don’s new site and explore his rich body of work. From essays and articles, to Home Fires and other books, to work with Audible — in Newark, and beyond!

May Andersen May Andersen: Homepage

As part of our work building dynamic, CMS-powered websites for artists & creatives, we built out a lush portfolio site for model and artist May Andersen.

The site includes photography from her modelling portfolio, her own photography and artwork, as well as essays and a blog. In addition to the standard CMS backend for content updates and edits, we spliced in photos from Andersen’s instagram feed, leveraging the ease and inclusiveness of this popular social network.

To complete the aesthetic, we are using custom pro fonts from the typekit service and full bleed browser width photos to provide a unique presence and immersive experience.
