City Harvest

City Harvest-Featured

City Harvest exists to end hunger in communities throughout New York City through food rescue and distribution, education, and other practical, innovative solutions.

Social Ink is proud of the complete overhaul of the flagship website of City Harvest, New York City’s first food rescue initiative. We built their new home on the web from the ground up, working with City Harvest leadership throughout the entire web design and development process to create a secure, future facing, user-friendly desktop and mobile responsive website that shows the full breadth of the organization’s impact.

Key aspects of the project included an extensive search engine optimization audit, a dollars-to-pounds interactive on donation impact and other data visualizations, and CRM integration. The project also included several custom templates for unique content like programs, fundraising events, the City Harvest Food Council, and corporate partners.

We’re thrilled to provide this organization with a web platform; our work with City Harvest represents Social Ink’s place as a digital partner at the nexus between nonprofits, healthy communities, and volunteerism.

Antonioni’s

Antonioni's Homepage

Development and design conversion for Antonioni’s restaurant in the Lower East Side of Manhattan.

Continuing our work building websites for restaurants and other food-oriented small businesses, we worked alongside an independent graphic design firm to convert their mockups to reality, a dynamic, image and content driven website offering fresh menus and other info about the restaurant and the bustling Lower East Side neighborhood.

By providing a custom WordPress build and backend, the small business owners can easily update menus and other information pages to keep their hungry public up to date with the latest in seasonal and fresh offerings.

The Good Fork

The Good Fork restaurant in Red Hook, Brooklyn is one of our favorite restaurants in the city. You can imagine how thrilled we were when we were given the opportunity to implement the designs and develop their new website. If you’ve never been, find a way to go! As the new website says, it “feels like being inside a boat or the diner car of an old train. It boasts an eclectic, globe trotting menu that has one foot in comfort food and the other in fine dining.”

Our work on the website involved building a customized CMS that provides a public calling card for the restaurant, aligning its aesthetic with the ambiance of the physical space, while fitting the needs of the owners, converting the designs to a smooth, fast-loading site. Specific features of the site include a high resolution slide show, easy to update menus for dinner, brunch, dessert, and the bar, several informational pages, and easy to update press reviews and clippings.

As part of our larger mission to provide beautiful websites for small businesses, we’re particularly thrilled to be working to design websites for restaurants, making a better web for the hardworking and creative endeavors of the new Brooklyn food movement.
