Social Ink recently worked with Riverkeeper to launch their new web platform!
Riverkeeper is a member-supported watchdog organization dedicated to defending the Hudson River and its tributaries and protecting the drinking water supply of nine million New York City and Hudson Valley residents. For nearly 50 years Riverkeeper has been New York’s clean water advocate. They have helped to establish globally recognized standards for waterway and watershed protection and serve as the model and mentor for the growing Waterkeeper movement that includes over 270 Keeper programs across the country and around the globe.
In early winter 2016 Social Ink partnered with Riverkeeper to redesign its home on the web. The clear, clean design and immersive experience of the new site allows the organization to share its water quality reports, organization actions, and blog content with its users.
The customized CMS of the site allows multiple organization members to choose from multiple site themes for different seasons and quickly update the site to keep users in the loop. For the first time, the site is responsive across an array of mobile devices and screen sizes.
With Riverkeeper’s new website, Social Ink is proud to continue our work on websites for nonprofits and advocacy organizations!
For people who want to be smart about buying and owning a home, HomeSmartNY is New York State’s largest network of professional, unbiased, nonprofit homeownership advisors.
Working with key team members of HomeSmartNY, we built a site from the ground up, focusing on an audience of homebuyers and homeowners, accessibility, and user interface (UI) and user experience (UX). A key feature of HomeSmartNY’s new platform is the interactive map, which allows site users to find resources specific to their needs through the use of an advanced search filter.
HomeSmartNY is doing great work educating homebuyers and homeowners in New York City and New York state; as part of our continued work with web design for nonprofits, Social Ink is happy to set them up with a platform that engages their users.

As a coalition of city transportation departments, NACTO is committed to raising the state of the practice for street design and transportation by building a common vision, sharing data, peer-to-peer exchange in workshops and conferences, and regular communication among member cities.
Social Ink worked with the National Association of City Transportation Officials to make a new web platform that represents the multifaceted policy and outreach work of the organization and serves as a resource for government, civic partners, and the general public. Through a custom WordPress CMS, NACTO can easily build information hubs around new pedestrian-friendly design standards and instantly add program-specific news, events, and publications.
Key features of NACTO’s new web platform include in depth guides and publications, annual conferences, programming, and event organizing, tiered sponsorships, and cross-content references and case studies, accessible via an ajax-enabled advanced search mechanism. As always, the site’s features responsive design that adapts the site’s layout for an array of tablets, phones, and monitors.
For NACTO’s “design guides” for the livable streets movement, we not only imported over 1,000 documents but retrofitted templates from two different sites with multiple slideshows, images and other rich media – all while preserving link structure for existing search engine and linking compatibility.

#StopSlut is a youth-led movement that grew from the response to SLUT: The Play; its mission is to transform rape culture through activism. Social Ink worked with The Feminist Press, a nonprofit literary publisher that advocates for freedom of expression and social justice, to promote #StopSlut.
Working alongside The Feminist Press we created a web platform that provides tour information and ticketing for SLUT: The Play, serves as a launch point for youth activism, and provides support resources for advocates and survivors. The CMS powered site is responsive across phones, tablets, and monitors of various shapes and sizes and will aid the growth of the #StopSlut movement.

The NYC Justice Corps seeks to develop the capacity of neighborhoods to address the reintegration challenges of their young adults reentering from the criminal justice system and to instill in those young adults a sense of civic responsibility and accountability to the communities to which they return.
We were thrilled at the opportunity to work alongside the Prisoner Reentry Institute leadership to overhaul the NYCJC website, with a focus on accessibility, community-based content organization, and a dynamic, multi-media “toolbox”, a marquis feature delivering tools for program deployment in a flexible model poised for growth to future program areas.
Through local, community-based advocacy work, we are proud to further the efforts of the NYC Justice Corps, continuing our own work building websites for nonprofits and community-based organizations.
Children’s Hope India helps children and families by partnering with local organizations that improve access to education, medical care, shelter, social services, and job skills training.
We worked with CHI to redesign and develop their web platform, integrating programs, events, and and fundraising campaigns. By planning the design around building awareness and prompting involvement and support, our goal was to provide multiple avenues to action. Housed in a robust Content Management System, the site gives CHI admins complete control over future content growth.

The New Economy Project works with community groups to build an economy that works for all, based on principles of cooperation, democracy, equity, racial justice, and ecological sustainability.
Continuing our work developing websites for nonprofits and progressive organizations, Social Ink was thrilled to create a brand new web presence for the New Economy project, helping create sustained campaigns challenging corporate actions threatening communities and perpetuating inequality.
Project-specific work included information architecture analysis and consulting, IT and launch support, collaboration and consulting with third party designers, and specific components such as sliders, feeds, customizable templates, newsletter integration with Mailchimp, social media integration, search, and dynamic sidebars.
Bridge Street Development Corporation (BSDC) is a faith-based, 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization the mission of which is to build partnerships with businesses, government, and other community stakeholders to provide civic and economic opportunities to the residents of Central Brooklyn.
Social Ink worked alongside stakeholders at BSDC to reimagine their web platform with an eye toward community resources, event organizing, and access to materials across their array of services. By implementing a flexible design in a user-friendly CMS, Bridge Street is able to extend their community outreach across their programs, collect donations, and add program-specific news, events, and stories at a moments notice.
