IUCN Global Gender Office

The IUCN –International Union for Conservation of Nature—is an intergovernmental organization comprised of over 1,200 members, including more than 200 government and more than 900 non-government organizations. The Global Gender Office (GGO) contributes towards IUCN’s vision and mission by providing innovative approaches, technical support, policy development and capacity building to a wide range of partners, ensuring gender equality is central to sustainable global environmental solutions.

Continuing our work building websites for nonprofits, Social Ink worked alongside key stakeholders at the Global Gender Office to overhaul their old, static site into a dynamic, CMS-powered resource center for initiatives, outreach and resources.

Key features of the project include immersive, immersive, high resolution photography, information architecture consulting to organize and optimize a wealth of work and knowledge resources, advanced featured search, automated translation via Google Translate, and email newsletter integration.

Catholic Medical Mission Board

Home Catholic Medical Mission Board

Continuing our mission in working with organizations that engage human rights – including gender-equality and access to healthcare – across the world, Social Ink recently partnered with the Catholic Medical Mission Board, an NYC-based nonprofit that supplies funds and organizes around the world.

Together with key staff we helped design a site from scratch, emphasizing eye-catching statistics, mission-based work and engaging donors across multiple campaigns.  Integration with third party software – such as MailChimp – rounded out the project.

New Economy Project

The New Economy Project works with community groups to build an economy that works for all, based on principles of cooperation, democracy, equity, racial justice, and ecological sustainability.

Continuing our work developing websites for nonprofits and progressive organizations, Social Ink was thrilled to create a brand new web presence for the New Economy project, helping create sustained campaigns challenging corporate actions threatening communities and perpetuating inequality.

Project-specific work included information architecture analysis and consulting, IT and launch support, collaboration and consulting with third party designers, and specific components such as sliders, feeds, customizable templates, newsletter integration with Mailchimp, social media integration, search, and  dynamic sidebars.

Bridge Street Development Corp

BSDC Home

Bridge Street Development Corporation (BSDC) is a faith-based, 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization the mission of which is to build partnerships with businesses, government, and other community stakeholders to provide civic and economic opportunities to the residents of Central Brooklyn.

Social Ink worked alongside Stakeholders at BSDC to reimagine their web platform, with an eye toward community resources, event organizing, and access to materials across their array of services. By implementing a flexible design in a userfriendly CMS, Bridge Street is able to extend their community outreach across their programs, collect donations, and add program-specific News, Events, and Stories at a moments notice.

We’re proud of our continued relationship with Bridge Street Development Corp, furthering our work building websites for nonprofits, community groups, and local Brooklyn-based organizations.

Scaffold Safety Law

The Scaffold Safety Coalition is a group of workers and advocates committed to protecting construction workers in New York state from industry-backed efforts to cripple a vital safety regulation known as the Scaffold Safety Law (codified in New York’s Labor Law Section 240).

For a time-sensitive legislation awareness campaign, we put together a full-featured advocacy site, with information sections, slideshows, testimonials, and news updates, in addition to action areas for organizing and sign up.

We are proud to work alongside the Scaffold Safety Coalition as they fight for protection of workers and labor.

 

Every Vote Counts Illinois

Every Vote Counts Illinois is a voter registration and participation site targeted to citizens concerned with political engagement and civil rights in Illinois.

Continuing our work building short turnaround advocacy sites for community and organizing groups, the site featured key action buttons, an information panel with slideshow capabilities, and basic information pages, along with search and contact forms, made immersive with a full bleed background image.

The site is built entirely in a user-friendly CMS, which allows for easy content upgrades by any non-technical admin. GET OUT THE VOTE!

Pennsylvanians for Quality Affordable Healthcare is an advocacy organization affiliated with healthcare workers in the greater Pittsburgh area.

This time-sensitive project included soup to nuts design and development services, from a type based logomark to web interface design and development. By merging testimonials, news updates, and fact explainer cards, along with a dedicated contact page, the “microsite” gives the organization a landing page for other marketing and web ads, and a gathering place for collective action and organization.

We’re thrilled to align with organizations fighting for worker’s rights and smart health care choices, building efficient, powerful advocacy websites in the Pittsburgh area, and beyond!

Donald Katz

Donald Katz: Homepage - Websites for Creatives by Social Ink

Donald Katz is a journalist, author, and founder of Audible.com. His 1992 book, Home Fires, has been reissued this year.

We worked alongside Donald’s staff and media team to create a personal brand, identity and website. The site provides a writerly presence on the web, and a place to showcase the many facets of his work: as author & journalist, Audible.com founder, and promoter of the city of Newark, New Jersey, where Audible’s headquarters were moved in 2007.

Specialty work on the project included a two-pronged navigation system, embedded social media and video, and a flexible production environment responsive to the timelines involved with a major book release.

As part of our work designing and developing websites for creatives, including writers and new media professionals, it’s been great working with Donald and team. We encourage you to visit Don’s new site and explore his rich body of work. From essays and articles, to Home Fires and other books, to work with Audible — in Newark, and beyond!

Working Families

Working Families: Home - Websites for progressives and political organizaitons

“Working Families is a growing progressive political organization that fights for an economy that works for all Americans, and a democracy in which every voice matters.”

Social Ink worked alongside the communications lead for Working Families to completely overhaul their website, shifting their presence from a small, grassroots startup political organization to a powerful party with an national scope. As Working Families extends their presence, starting coalitions and outreach in an increasing number of States, the site is built to grow alongside.

Project specific design and functionality includes powerful State Hubs and dynamic sidebars for multiple feeds and filtering of content, easy to implement Action modules integrated with the Salsa platform, an information architecture filtered along States, Issues, News, and Elections, and multi-faceted Twitter integration, dynamically pulling state-centric twitter feeds. The site is responsive across phones, tablets, and monitors of all shapes and sizes, built around resolution-specific breakpoints for optimal user experience and interaction.

We are thrilled to continue our work in the progressive arena, building websites for political organizations and advocacy groups.

Raise Illinois Action

Raise Illinois Action Homepage by Social Ink

Working together with advocates in Illinois, Social Ink delivered another advocacy website around raising the minimum wage in Illinois.   Raise Illinois Action’s motto resonates with Social Ink’s mission:

We believe that everyone deserves fair and decent wages; the opportunity to grow and flourish in our workplaces and communities; and the right to live with economic security and shared prosperity.

Weaving together stories, contact forms and videos & images, we gave our best contribution to this growing movement.

Freshkills Park Alliance

Freshkills Park Alliance: Homepage

Continuing our work building websites for civic groups and public-sector organizations such as the New York City Parks, we worked closely with the Freshkills Park Alliance to design, develop and implement and foundational website for public outreach, information, and resources.

The website gives Freshkills Park an extended reach as this massive urban landscape redevelopment project proceeds in the former Freshkills Landfill in Staten Island.

Project challenges included on-site, recurring donations, events integration with Eventbrite, visual identity alignment, and considerable information architecture consulting to make sense of the breadth of resources and information that the Alliance offers. The site is fully mobile responsive, adapting to touch devices and lower resolution screens without loading a separate site.

The Freshkills Park Alliance, along with the New York City Parks Department, is powering an amazing, and vital public works project; we can’t wait to see the plan unfold in the coming years.

Highbridge Voices

Highbridge Voices - Homepage

Highbridge Voices is an arts-centric nonprofit in the Highbridge area of the Bronx, NY, focusing on youth development through music education and performance.

Continuing our work building websites for nonprofits, we worked alongside the Highbridge team to completely overhaul their old, static website, bringing them into the ‘modern’ age of the web. By re-organizing their content, focusing on audience, access, and prioritization, we re-shaped their presence and outreach, providing a CMS-powered site that will grow with the organization–and can be managed day-to-day by organizational staff.

Specific project challenges included a vast multimedia collection, including audio players, video, and slideshow galleries, and integrated, self-hosted donations for fundraising, including recurring donations. We extend Highbridge outreach by integrating the site with the Mailchimp CRM and E-Newsletter platform, setting up seamless collection forms to keep their audience engaged beyond the site itself.

We’re thrilled to work with this vital youth-oriented nonprofit and community organization, and count them as a shining example of the kind of clients we had in mind when we founded Social Ink.
