We have a love for design and programming and a owe debt of gratitude to the amazing open-source community whose tireless work we rely on daily. We believe in full participation and continue to design and develop resources and tools in the open source spirit. Explore our design tools, wordpress plugins, and documentation, below.
What is a Content Management System, or CMS? A CMS is a system which provides a user-friendly, code-free backend that puts you in control of adding and editing your content. Learn more about why building your site with a CMS is an integral part of our web philosophy and business model — and why it should become part of yours, too!
The Code of Fair Practice lays forth standard business practices in the design community, including terms for negotiations and different types of agreements between designers/artists and clients.
Social Ink prides itself on creating website with a view toward accessibility – in laymen’s terms, how people with disabilities view the web, a primarily visually-based interface.
Social Ink takes the W3′s recommendations for accessibility very seriously for many reasons. Primarily, we find that accessibility works for users with disability and without. That is, developing for browsers with disabilities allows us to develop enduring code that works well across various platforms (from mobile Android and iPhone to Unix) and audiences, including older users and/or users in countries without the never ending stream of high-ending computers we rely on so frequently in the United States.
We’ve created a tool to help you choose a font for your website. See http://tools.social-ink.net/fonts. Another free resource from Social Ink!
We’re happy to announce our second plugin, yPHPLista. yPHPlista integrates PHPlist, the famous open-source, free and powerful mailing list software, with wordpress smoothly and now with AJAX! Other plugins haven’t been updated in a while, or they don’t work with the latest versions of phplist. importantly, this plugin does all of that but allows you to keep your user on the same page, not send them to an ugly “thank you for subscribing” page.
yContributors – wordpress plugin for author archives and contributor index, with photos and excerpts
Here we go again, spring is in the air, and Social Ink has released its newest plugin, yContributors.
yContributors creates a one-step author or contributors archive page that enables you to show any number of recent posts by each author, along with profile information pulled from each user’s wordpress user profile. This plugin shows all your members, either in table or descending form, with a jQuery searchable autocomplete-style (type and find) way to get to members. Options include excluding certain members, showing latest posts and author statistics. Also, works with User Photos Plugin (unrelated to this) to display profile photos.
