IUCN Global Gender Office

From our Portfolio

The IUCN –International Union for Conservation of Nature—is an intergovernmental organization comprised of over 1,200 members, including more than 200 government and more than 900 non-government organizations. The Global Gender Office (GGO) contributes towards IUCN’s vision and mission by providing innovative approaches, technical support, policy development and capacity building to a wide range of partners, ensuring gender equality is central to sustainable global environmental solutions.

Continuing our work building websites for nonprofits, Social Ink worked alongside key stakeholders at the Global Gender Office to overhaul their old, static site into a dynamic, CMS-powered resource center for initiatives, outreach and resources.

When we built the GGO website, we had to figure out a way for staff to include various stakeholders from sites scattered across the globe, standardizing metadata for various content types and integrating it with a new Knowledge Center – an advanced interface for resources and research, and a range of other content types.

Additionally, we built an interactive and filterable map, pulling from the live website database of resources, allowing staff to post a resource, a filter/tag, and have it populate in various sections of the site from archives, to “related content”, to maps.

Other key features of the project include immersive, immersive, high resolution photography, information architecture consulting to organize and optimize a wealth of work and knowledge resources, automated translation via Google Translate, and email newsletter integration.

Working Families

From our Portfolio
Working Families: Home - Websites for progressives and political organizaitons

“Working Families is a growing progressive political organization that fights for an economy that works for all Americans, and a democracy in which every voice matters.”

Social Ink worked with Working Families to completely overhaul their website, shifting their presence from a small, grassroots startup political organization to a powerful party with an national scope. As Working Families extends their presence, starting coalitions and outreach in an increasing number of States, the site is built to grow accordingly. The site patches together local and national advocacy and action, with content broken down by state, issue, and elections, in addition to dedicated actions.

When we coded and designed their new site, we had to organize meetings with various chapters of WF staff in different regions and states to see how we could connect national and local news, as well as distinguish between the political arm of the party and 501(c)3 that handled nonprofit advocacy.  We had to build a systematic way for over 30 users to enter data that was both moderated but could be pushed to the site easily.

Project specific design and functionality includes powerful State Hubs and related content for multiple feeds and filtering, Action modules integrated with the Salsa CRM, dynamic filtering along States, Issues, News, and Elections, and multi-faceted Twitter integration, pulling state-centric twitter feeds. The site is responsive across phones, tablets, and displays of all shapes and sizes.

We are thrilled to continue our work in the progressive arena, building websites for political organizations and advocacy groups.
